The Czech Republic
The Czech Republic has to be one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Of course, it is a very popular tourist desination, everyone knows Prague: the castle, Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, the Astronomical clock - all these are much loved, and frequently visited. The city's architecture is stunning, the baroque churches and palaces compete with wonderful examples of Art Nouveau architecture and iconic modern buildings as well.
There is much more to Prague than just the favourite tourist spots. You can wander all day, immersing yourself in the beauty of ancient buildings, ornate doors, hidden gardens, then pop into a restaurant or bar for a delicious meal or a glass of thirst-quenching Czech beer.
Prague is often called the Golden City....
It is said that if you rub the staue of St John Nepomuk on Charles Bridge you will be guaranteed to return to Prague.
But there is far more to the Czech Republic than just Prague - even though you could spend a lifetime discovering the city and its treasures.
Venture away from the capital and you will find more architectural gems, as well as a slower pace in the beautiful countryside.
