Puppies!

Exciting times!
15/10/2019
Last year there were only nine Cesky Terrier puppies born in the whole of the UK - and probably less than one hundred worldwide. It did seem as though we Cesky Terriers were in danger of becoming extinct. The good news is that in 2019 we have already had forty one puppies born - and there are more on the way!

Some, like Dora, are already settled in their new homes, some have homes lined up and will be meeting their new humans soon - but it is inevitable that some will have to wait a bit longer. After all, when people believe that finding a Cesky Terrier puppy is almost impossible they sometimes don't want to wait, and go and find a different breed.

With a breed that is as rare as we are, it becomes a vicious circle: if there are a lot of puppies around, it is difficult to find homes for them, because so few people know about Cesky Terriers - and responsible breeders think twice about whether to breed again. Then, when we go to the Living Heritage Country Fairs, or big events like the National Pet Show and people meet us and think this is the right breed for them there are no puppies, and no litters planned.

So, there has never been a better time to add a Cesky Terrier to your family! Next year there will probably only be a few puppies again.
